Baboe, a pieces from the past...

Baboe is a term comes from dutch to determine housework that done by servant.
In the colonial era, baboe has an important role to many Dutchman that stay in Indonesia.

Paula Gomes, in her book "Sudah, laat maar" write a heart-touching story about the relationship between a girl and her "baboe". When she looking at a book full with beautiful picture at her bed, she ask the baboe to sit next to her and accompany her to see those beautiful picture. But, baboe shook her head and stayed  on the floor and then said "Baboe tempatnya dibawah, di lantai" (trans : Baboe place is here, on the floor)

At that moment, the girl ask herself  "why?"
